Meet Ashley Coey…
Ashley visited us on a Saturday morning for one of our community workouts and since then, shes been a vital part of the 926 family! Having Ashley in class is always a joy. Whether shes cheering others on, participating in our community events or helping out with child care, you can guarantee that she is bringing smiles to other's faces as well as her own! Thank you Ashley for being such an awesome part of our community!
As part of being Athlete of the Month, we asked Ashley a few questions to get to know him a little more, below are his answers:
1. Where are you from?
I moved here from Bend, Oregon which is very similar to Asheville just with more mountains and opposite side of the country.
2. What do you do for a living?
Registered Nurse on the Neuro-Stroke unit at CMC, Main
3. Favorite hobbies?
CrossFit and anything else that involves the great outdoors
4. What is your athletic background?
In high school I played softball, basketball and attempted a season of track and field but quickly learned it wasn't for me. After high school I was the average inconsistent gym member until starting CrossFit in 2012.
5. What made you choose CrossFit 926?
I heard of CrossFit 926 when I first moved to North Carolina in August, my brother in law conveniently owns the boat shop attached to the gym and he knew I was searching for a CrossFit to join. He said "there's some muscle guys opening a gym next to my shop...they look hardcore, maybe you should check it out." After a little research I found out it would be a CrossFit gym. I stopped by and was greeted by Zach, he shared their passion behind opening the gym along with their goals for the future and I instantly knew this was a place I wanted to be part of. I came back a few days later to try the Saturday class and instantly felt welcomed, after that I was hooked. From the great coaches, challenging workouts and friendly community I knew CrossFit 926 had everything I was looking for in a gym.
6. What is your favorite movement that we do here at CrossFit 926?
Deadlifts and Cleans, it is a hard pick between those 2 movements.
7. What is your favorite thing about CrossFit 926?
My favorite thing about CrossFit 926 is our coaching staff and the community, two very important components that make this gym stand out among others.
8. What advice would you give a new-comer to CrossFit 926?
Show up with an open mind, be ready to challenge yourself and push the limit. Your body is capable of far more than the mind allows. Most importantly, have fun!
