September 2019 Athlete Of The Month

Meet Brian Hines…

Brian joined us in an effort to establish a healthy habit for his son, Luke, who would be soon heading off to college. Little did Brian know that Luke would soon become tied down with school related activities and not be able to continue his 5:00 AM workout routine... but that didn't stop Brian from getting after it. Since then, Brian has been very committed to his Monday, Wednesday and Friday schedule and his progress shows it. Everything about this guy has improved; his strength, range of motion and mobility, body composition, confidence.. you name it! It has been a true pleasure watching Brian evolve into what he is today and it will be even more of a pleasure to see what he can accomplish.

As part of being Athlete of the Month, we asked Brian a few questions to get to know him a little more, below are his answers:

1. Where are you from?
Waynesboro VA. Graduated from Radford University and moved to Charlotte in 1994.

2. What do you do for a living?
Own a Real Estate Brokerage, Investment and Development Company. Also serve as an elected Huntersville Town Commissioner.

3. Favorite hobbies?
CrossFit (a suprisingly new hobby), outdoor activities, spending time at the beach and watching the Carolina Panthers.

4. Athletic Background?
Distance runner in Track and Cross Country in High School. Sprint Triathlete in early 30’s.

5. Why you chose CrossFit 926?
Zach invited me and my son (Luke) to attend a Saturday community event. The Saturday event we attended was a FaithRX day. To be honest, I really attended with my son as way for him to establish good workout standards prior to him attending college. He wanted to try it more so we attended the 5am class during a free trial, to work with his senior High School schedule. After the trial he wanted to continue, so as another way to connect with my son, we both signed up. Shortly after committing (and me paying the dues), he decided he was too busy with school and work. So...I have been attending ever since. Funny how God works through others.

6. Favorite movement?
None. Hate them all. But if I had to pick one it would be the DB Snatch. Know what is NOT my favorite…the Bike and Burpees!

7. Favorite thing about CrossFit 926?
The Community!

8. What advice would you give to a new comer?
If I can do it...so can you!
